FIELD: shaping.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a machine direction oriented (MDO) film and to a method for producing the MDO film, to an application of the MDO film as a cover film when packing silage and to a bale containing silage or a silage precursor packed in the MDO film. The MDO film comprises a multimodal copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin comonomers with: a) a density from 906 to 925 kg/m3, determined in accordance with ISO 1183, b) MFR21 10 to 200 g/10 min, determined in accordance with ISO 1133, wherein said multimodal copolymer of ethylene comprises c) 50 wt.% or less of the first copolymer of ethylene and 1-butene and d) 50 wt.% or more of the second copolymer of ethylene and 1-hexene. The machine direction oriented film is therein stretched uniaxially in the machine direction (MD) with a stretching degree from 1:1.5 to 1:6.
EFFECT: production of an MDO film exhibitng excellent impact strength and tear strength.
