FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power clamping elements and can be used as an element for fixing workpieces in machine tools. It provides the remote control of fixing and loosening of workpieces in automated production conditions, and can also be used in various small-sized devices capable of developing large efforts. The thermomechanical power drive contains a compression spring and a shape memory material element. The thermomechanical power drive is equipped with flanges made of insulating material located at the ends of the spring, and the element is made in the form of a toroidal coil of wire wound around the flanges and the spring.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing the speed of actuation of the drive.
