FIELD: material engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of research of mechanical characteristics of materials, in particular, evaluating plastic properties. Essence: bar and wire metal products are deformed by drawing, axial residual stresses in the surface layer are determined experimentally. The deformability index of the material is calculated by the formula
where σz0 is the residual stress in the metal surface layer, MPa; σs is the deformation resistance of the metal, MPa; E is the elastic modulus of the metal, MPa; μ is Poisson’s ratio; is the extraction coefficient; d0, d1 is the diameter of the product before and after the drawing passage, respectively, mm; αB is the angle of inclination of the generatrix of the drawing working channel to the drawing axis, deg.
EFFECT: ability to determine the index of deformability, which determines the plastic properties of metal in the production of bar and wire products by drawing.
