FIELD: oil refining.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of oil refining, in particular to the processes of deepening oil refining and increasing the yield of light fractions due to the implementation of catalytic processes of converting heavy oil fractions into light hydrocarbons. A method for preparing a catalyst for processing heavy oil fractions into light hydrocarbons is carried out by pre-calcining NaCl, followed by sintering stoichiometric amounts of NaCl and FeCl3 at a temperature of 313±1°C to obtain a complex of NaFeCl4, which is then applied to the dried zeolite of the NaY brand in a quantitative ratio, wt. %: NaFeCl4 - 10, NaY - 90.
EFFECT: ensuring the effective implementation of the conversion of heavy oil fractions into gaseous hydrocarbons with a high content of C2-C4 olefins and light hydrocarbon fractions.
