The device for laying poultry on a conveyor includes a stack consisting of one or more boxes stacked on top of each other. Stacking of poultry is carried out on a poultry conveyor. The stacking device includes a tilt unit and a tray. The tilt unit is configured to rotate the stack about the tilt axis between a receiving position where the stack is received and a stacking position where the bird is transferred from the stack to the poultry conveyor via the chute. The tray is rotatable between the receiving position and the stacking position independently of the tilt unit.
