A composition for the improvement of plant development is proposed, containing at least one strain of inactivated bacteria of Delftia acidovorans type and an agriculturally acceptable carrier. In this case, the specified inactivated bacteria are bacteria or preparations of bacteria killed by physical, biochemical, chemical or physical-chemical processes and having viability of less than 50%. The use of the specified composition for the improvement of plant development is also proposed. A method for the improvement of plant development, providing for the administration of the specified strain of inactivated bacteria of Delftia acidovorans type or a composition containing the specified strain of inactivated bacteria is also proposed.
