SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining the coordinates of targets using an approximated direction finding characteristic (DFC). To determine the coordinates of the targets, a step-by-step scan of the space is performed along the angular coordinate to set and store complete sequences of signals from the targets from the outputs of the antenna system (AS) forming the targets’ DFC, each DFC is processed in a certain way, the inflection points of each DFC are determined, the intersection points of the approximating lines to the right and left of the inflection point are calculated, the angular position of the equal signal directions of the AS (ESD) in a moving normal coordinate system is remembered, the angular direction to the target is calculated in a certain way using the values obtained.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the angular direction of the target is provided.
