FIELD: testing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical testing of materials, in particular to the determination of the coefficient of sliding friction during mutual movement of samples. Essence: two samples with flat working surfaces located on top of each other are placed on a platform tilted relative to the horizon by a certain angle ϕ. The upper sample is moved along the lower one by means of a flexible rod attached to it, which in the initial state of the samples is placed horizontally parallel to the flat surface of the platform. After moving the upper sample for a certain distance, the initial angle β of deviation of the trajectory of its movement from the direction coinciding with the initial direction of the flexible rod is determined. The sliding friction coefficient is determined by the formula
EFFECT: possibility of determining with high accuracy the coefficient of external sliding friction with the measurement of only the geometric parameters of the system, without measuring the friction force in a small single movement.
