FIELD: test technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical testing of materials, in particular to the determination of the coefficient of sliding friction during the mutual movement of specimens. Essence: sample of one material is made in the form of a cylindrical rod, and a sample consisting of two parts with flat working surfaces is made of the second material, which are pressed from opposite sides to the cylindrical part of the core specimen by forces R perpendicular to its axis, which provide the necessary pressure on the contact surfaces. Axial force P is applied to the core specimen, insufficient to displace it while the system is stationary. Rotation around the axis with the simultaneous action of the longitudinal force P drives the core sample in motion along a helical path, measures its axial displacement h and the number of rotations n perfect for this, then determine the coefficient of sliding friction using the formula. Constant position of the sample, made in the form of a cylindrical rod, provide guides of antifriction material.
EFFECT: ability to determine the slip friction coefficients at any contact pressures, without measuring the friction force, based on the results of measuring the geometrical parameters of the system.
