FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-destructive testing and is intended for diagnosing washouts of bridge piers. The method includes the stages of installing vibration sensors on the pier cap in the horizontal plane; recording the oscillations of the pier in the transverse and longitudinal directions when affected by natural and man-made microdynamic background; processing the received signals, and, as a result of said processing, determining the actual frequencies of natural oscillations of the pier in the loaded state; calculating the frequencies of natural oscillations of the object in the loaded state with various variations of the depth and width of washout using mathematical modelling; comparing the actual frequencies with the calculated ones obtained in modelling, in order to identify the possible variants of washout of the pier and localisation thereof, and to determine the degree of reduction or loss of the load-bearing capacity. The true level of washout of the pier and localisation thereof are herein determined with account for the angular movements of the top of the pier along and across the axis of the bridge under the effect of a mobile load by means of inclinometer sensors installed on the pier cap; and the first bending transverse and longitudinal frequency of natural oscillations is determined by recording the peak values of the primary signal of the vibration sensor when the dynamic characteristics of the object are calculated.
EFFECT: increase in the operating reliability of bridges due to the prompt detection of washouts of the piers based on the results of monitoring.
