FIELD: textiles.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the textile industry and pertains to sewing threads and a method for the production thereof. Method for producing sewing thread includes twisting at least two multifilament threads with a twist of each multifilament thread in the direction S and a final twist of the thread containing twisted multifilament threads in the direction Z. The threads are then fixed by heat treatment. Multifilament full drawn yarn FDY is used herein to manufacture the thread, and the multifilament thread is twisted simultaneously with the thread containing twisted multifilament threads. The heat treatment of threads with the loosened winding from 0.20 to 0.65 g/cm³ in a moist-steam environment is implemented in two stages. The first stage is conducted at 40°C to 100°C, followed by cooling to the ambient temperature. The second stage is conducted at 100°C to 150°C, followed by cooling to the ambient temperature. The resulting sewing thread has a strength of at least 60 cN/dtex and a shrinkage value not above 1.5%.

EFFECT: possibility of preventing the seam deformation and the defect of wrinkling of the fabric after making the seam.
