SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for manufacture of a color-changing polymer surface or varnish surface, including provision of a carrier layer with a lower side and an upper side, impregnation of a core of the carrier layer with a liquid impregnating agent, and drying of the impregnated carrier layer. In this case, a covering agent layer is applied to the upper side of the carrier layer, wherein, as the covering agent, a mixture is applied, including polymer with an etching additive, or a mixture including varnish and an etching additive, and it is dried. Then, the carrier layer is connected to material, wherein one layer is cured during drying and/or connection on the upper side to an open-pore at least maximum transparent layer to provide a decorative surface, which can be changed in its color by a final user.

EFFECT: obtaining a decorative plate suitable for etching.
