FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing N,N-diallylglutamic acid applicable for synthesising water-soluble polyelectrolytes. Method consists in a sodium salt of α-glutamic acid interacting with allyl chloride in an aqueous alcoholic solution.
EFFECT: synthesis of a diallylic monomer with high activity in radical polymerisation reactions for producing polyelectrolytes with a controlled acid-base and hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance.
