FIELD: location; ranging.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in monitoring of a state of environment in laser location and ranging systems. A retroreflective element is made in the form of a biconvex composite lens, in which curvature centers of the first and the last surfaces coincide. The second surface of the first lens and the first surface of the second lens are made flat, and lenses are interconnected with flat surfaces. A thickness of the first lens d1 is equal to a curvature radius of the first surface R1, a thickness of the second lens d2 is determined from an expression d2=(S'-d1)±δ, where S1' is a distance to the Gauss plane of the first surface of the first lens, δ is a correction, a value of which is selected from a condition of provision of correction of wave aberration of a wide radiation bundle. A curvature radius of the last surface R2 is equal to d2. A refractive index of the first lens material is less than or equal to a refractive index of the second lens material.

EFFECT: provision of a wide range of back reflection angles, including at large distances to a radiation source, ease of a structure and a manufacturing process.
