FIELD: new terahertz elements.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a new terahertz (THz) element base for the range of 0.1-10.0 THz based on optical halide crystalline materials, which can be used for the manufacture by extrusion of a new class of flexible nanocrystalline light guides resistant to UV and radiation and intended for as a transmission channel not only for terahertz radiation, but also for infrared, as well as for the production of optical products by hot pressing - windows, lenses, prisms, films intended, along with light guides, for use in THz optics and photonics, laser and IR technology, in space and nuclear technologies. According to the invention, a terahertz crystalline ceramic of the TlBr0.46I0.54 - AgI system is proposed, including a solid solution of monovalent thallium bromide-iodide of the composition TlBr0.46I0.54 and a silver halide, characterized in that the terahertz crystalline ceramic is made on the basis of a solid solution of TlBr0.46I0.54 and contains silver iodide (AgI) as silver halide in the following ratio of components, mol.%: TlBr0.46I0.54 solid solution - 57÷82 and silver iodide - 43÷18.
EFFECT: invention provides formation of plastic and non-hygroscopic THz ceramics of micro- and nanocrystalline structure resistant to ultraviolet (UV), apparently, and ionizing radiation.
