HEAT-RESISTANT PACKER WITH FLOW SWITCH Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC E21B33/12

Abstract RU 2789645 C1

FIELD: oil industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil industry, namely to a packing technique for sealing an inter-tube space in a casing string, mainly with thermal methods for extraction of high-viscosity oil, to protect a casing production string from impact of high pressure and temperature accompanying a steam injection process. A heat-resistant packer with a flow switch includes a barrel, at an upper end of which a bayonet is screwed, an oil seal located between the barrel and a rod pressed from below with a sleeve, while the barrel is made with the possibility of movement relatively to the oil seal, while maintaining its tightness, a bayonet key connected with a lower end to the rod, using an upper stop, the main sealing element mounted on the rod, pressed from ends with a collar of the upper stop and a lower stop connected to an upper release cone covered with a casing with longitudinal windows, in which spring-loaded anchor dies are installed, resting on a lower release cone connected with a pusher, in which a threaded sleeve is located, centralizer springs mounted from an outer side on the pusher, with the possibility of their constant contact with a casing string wall during the entire descent of the packer to a set depth. The bayonet key and the rod are made with the possibility of transmission of torque from a pipe column to the threaded sleeve and unscrewing it from the pusher to move it upwards, with insertion of the lower release cone under spring-loaded anchor dies providing fixation of the packer and compression of the sealing element to a hermetical contact with a surface of the casing string. The packer contains a flow switch installed in the barrel with the formation of an annular space between them and connection-disconnection of sub-packer and over-packer inter-tube spaces bypassing the main sealing element through the annular space and upper and lower channels due to movement along the barrel by means of interaction of a switching mechanism with an activating mechanism. The switching mechanism consists of a large collet with a spring-loaded small collet installed in it.

EFFECT: possibility of switching flows and their direction inside the packer itself is provided for both steam injection into a reservoir and fluid supply to a surface, and effective gas removal from sub-packer to over-packer inter-tube space bypassing a packer sealer.
