SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of silicon dioxide powders for use as filter materials, the production of sorbents and catalysts, thermal insulation and other industries. A method for producing silicon dioxide by heterogeneous synthesis is proposed, including the interaction of an alkali metal silicate powder with an acid solution, followed by precipitation, characterized in that heterogeneous synthesis is carried out at a pH of 2 to 5, the solid phase is an alkali silicate powder, and the liquid phase is an acid solution; as an alkaline silicate, a silicate powder is used with a molar ratio M = nSiO2 / nMe2O equal to 2.96-3.3, where Me is the alkaline silicate cation, the particle size according to one of the geometric parameters, namely the thickness, 0.15-0 .4 µm; inorganic and organic acids with a concentration of 10 to 50 wt.% are used as acids, and the precipitate is isolated by decantation of the mother liquor and washed by repulpation in water.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to obtain silicon oxide powder of low dispersity, from 1 m2/g with a specific surface area, which makes it possible to wash the product by decanting the mother liquor, followed by repulpation in water.
