FIELD: biofiltration module for treating surface runoff.
SUBSTANCE: biofiltration module for surface runoff treatment contains a sealed housing in which two containers are placed one above the other, the upper and lower, respectively, of which the upper one is made with the possibility of accommodating a wastewater accumulation zone, a filtering load with plants planted in it, a drainage layer in it and is equipped with an inlet element, an overflow pipe, an outlet in the bottom, and the lower tank contains a sorption post-treatment unit equipped with sorption mats, partitions located vertically and alternately relative to the longitudinal axis of the lower tank in a checkerboard pattern, creating a zigzag direction of flow through the sorption mats, and slot drain, outlet pipe for purified water. The biofiltration module is made with the possibility of mutual junction of biofiltration modules with an arbitrary form of their placement on the ground and the possibility of providing the required performance. A method for treating surface runoff using a biofiltration module includes installing a housing of a biofiltration module for cleaning surface runoff, laying sorption mats in a sorption post-treatment unit in the space between vertical partitions arranged in a checkerboard pattern, after which an internal container is installed in the module housing on a sorption post-treatment unit, overflow pipes with their connection to the outlet pipeline network are installed, the flow of surface runoff from the catchment through the inlet element of the housing to the accumulation zone is provided, forming a layer above the surface of the filter load and cleaning the runoff from suspended solids, heavy metals, organic substances by filtering, sorption and biological treatment under the action of soil microorganisms and the root system of plants when the runoff passes through the filter media and the root system of planted plants in the vertical direction, respectively. Further, after passing through the filtering load and the drainage layer, the runoff is discharged through the outlet into an external tank containing a sorption post-treatment unit, where it moves horizontally through sorption mats placed between vertical partitions arranged in a checkerboard pattern to achieve the maximum effect of wastewater post-treatment, from which further clean water is discharged by gravity through a slot drain into the space between the inner tank and the outer tank and further along the outlet pipe, which is made with the possibility of being placed on either side of the housing and draining the treated effluents into the rain sewer system, water body or consumer, and in case of rain with an intensity higher than the calculated one, a part of the wastewater from the accumulation zone of the biofiltration module is diverted through the overflow pipe without passing through the filter load, the drainage layer and the sorption post-treatment unit.
EFFECT: increased performance of runoff filtration and efficiency of surface wastewater treatment from suspended solids.
