FIELD: biotechnology; microbiology.

SUBSTANCE: method for identifying the yeast-like fungus Candida auris is proposed involving inoculation of the culture on a nutrient medium and incubation at 37°C. The nutrient medium contains Legionelbakagar, which includes 10.0 g/l of sulfuric acid fish meal hydrolysate of FK brand, 10.0 g/l of haemophilic microorganisms growth stimulator, 12±2.0 g/l of bacteriological agar, and additionally 9.0 g/l of yeast extract, 40 g/l of glucose, 0.25 g/l of iron pyrophosphate and 100 ml of egg yolk emulsion; moreover, the emulsion of egg yolk is introduced after autoclaving the nutrient medium for 15 minutes at 121°C and cooling down to 50–45°C. Visual identification of the culture is carried out by the presence of a zone of phospholipase activity in the form of a whitish zone of precipitation around the colony of Candida auris and the absence of this zone in other yeast-like fungi of the Candida species.

EFFECT: extension of the arsenal of methods for the selective detection of Candida auris.
