FIELD: microbiology; biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method for identifying the yeast-like fungus Candida auris is proposed, including inoculation of the culture on a nutrient medium and incubation at 37°C. The nutrient medium contains sulphite agar, modification No. 3, including 15.0 g/l of casein pancreatic hydrolysate, 10.0 g/l of yeast extract, 1.0 g/l of iron citrate, 0.5 g/l of sodium sulphite, 17, 5± 2.5 g/l of bacteriological agar; 900 ml of distilled water and additionally 20 g/l of glucose and 100 ml of egg yolk emulsion; moreover, the emulsion of egg yolk is introduced after autoclaving the nutrient medium for 15 minutes at 121°C and cooling down to 50–45°C. Visual identification is carried out by the presence of a zone of phospholipase activity in the form of the appearance of a whitish zone of precipitation around the Candida auris colony and the absence of this zone in other yeast-like fungi of the Candida species.

EFFECT: extension of the arsenal of methods for the selective detection of Candida auris.
