FIELD: veterinary physiology; clinical diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for the diagnosis and prevention of various diseases of the adrenal cortex in cats of different breeds and ages. A method for diagnosing diseases of the adrenal cortex in cats is proposed. The blood serum level of corticosteroid hormones is measured in cats of Siamese, Persian, Abyssinian breeds, as well as outbred cats of different age groups using the ELISA test. The parameters of the adrenal cortex hormones are measured: total thyroxine, free thyroxine, total triiodothyronine, free triiodothyronine, thyroid-stimulating hormones. According to their numerical values, using table 1 - reference values, taking into account the breed of the cat, or using table 2 - reference values, taking into account the age of the cat, Cushing's syndrome and Addison's disease are diagnosed. If the hormone level is below the above parameters, Addison's disease is diagnosed, and if it is above theses parameters, Cushing's syndrome is diagnosed.

EFFECT: invention allows to diagnose diseases of the adrenal cortex of cats in an easily accessible way, depending on the breed and age, based on reference indicators of corticosteroid hormones using the ELISA test These values contribute to the diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome and Addison's disease in the clinical practice of a veterinarian.
