METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THYROID DISEASES IN CATS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G01N33/78 G01N33/573 A01K67/02

Abstract RU 2766668 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to veterinary endocrinology, and can be used for diagnosing thyroid diseases in cats. Thyroid hormone level is measured in blood serum of Siamese, Persian, Abyssian breeds, as well as outbred cats of different age groups using enzyme immunoassay. Thyroid hormones are measured: total thyroxine, free thyroxine, free triiodothyronine, thyrotropic hormone. Their numerical values are used to diagnose hypothyroidism and thyrotoxicosis with the help of table 1 - reference values taking into account the cat's breed or using table 2 - reference values taking into account the age of the cat. If the hormone level is lower than the above parameters, hypothyroidism is diagnosed. If the hormone level is higher than the above parameters, thyrotoxicosis is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the probability of making an accurate diagnosis in cats of special breeds and ages with thyroid pathologies by establishing new diagnostic criteria for the state of the thyroid gland based on the reference values of thyroid hormones in cats depending on the breed and age.
