SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for selecting a product based on N-stage categorization of product parameters and determining its relevance index. The effect of the proposed technical solution is achieved by receiving data about the product; extracting a set of product entities from the received data; for each type of product, its own set of parameters is set, consisting of four types of parameters: fixed parameters, the deviation of which is unacceptable; parameters with tolerances; parameter, the priority of which is higher at its lowest value; parameter, the priority of which is higher at its highest value; for each similar product found, an entity set containing entity attributes characterizing the product parameters is retrieved; generating a list of similar products and marking similar products in the list according to the relevance indices of similar products; the most similar product is determined based on the relevance index of similar products.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of product selection.
