FIELD: acoustics; microphone arrays.

SUBSTANCE: microphone array system comprises microphone modules 44, a microphone array 13 and means 33 for determining the average distance to the sound source. The microphone module 44 contains housing 1, placed in it the first printed circuit board 6 with a microphone 7 and the second printed circuit board 8 with buffer differential converters 18, 19, 20, and an electrical connector 9 connected to the second printed circuit board 8. Printed circuit boards 6 and 8 are located one after the other and are connected by racks 5. The body 1 is equipped with latches 4 for fixing in the cells of the microphone array 13. A method for collecting and processing sound data using a microphone array system includes localizing sound sources by means of visualizing the sound portrait of sound sources, determining the average distance to the sound source, and analysing selected areas on the sound portrait of the power map.

EFFECT: possibility of quick adaptation of the system to work with different sources of sound signals, maintenance of the required accuracy characteristics for sound frequencies with different wavelengths, possibility of multi-channel independent processing of individual sound areas on the sound portrait of the object under study with minimal computational costs.
