FIELD: heat engineering.
SUBSTANCE: evaporators for heat pumps. The method for controlling the formation of frost and ice on the working surface of the evaporator is to apply a control mark in the form of a black circle to one of the fins of the evaporator. During operation of the heat pump, the evaporator is cooled by the boiling of the refrigerant in it, which leads to the formation of a layer of frost and ice on the lamellas (fins). As a result of frost formation, the black mark changes color. The light sensor reacts to the change in contrast and sends a command to turn on the anti-icing system.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of timely activation of the anti-icing system, as well as the duration of its operation with minimal power consumption.
