FIELD: sampling equipment.

SUBSTANCE: gravity sampler and a method for using it. The sampler consists of two detachable modules: cargo and operating. The cargo one contains a set of metal disks, allowing, if necessary, to change the weight load, and the operating one can be composite, changing the length of the sampler. The upper part of the sampler is open and equipped with a rigging bracket made with the possibility of rotation around the pipe body, which ensures, when the pipe orientation is changed during lifting, the conditions for obtaining the preservation of the structure of accumulation of sedimentary matter of the loose deposits upper layer.

EFFECT: maintaining the structure of accumulation of sedimentary matter when sampling loose bottom sediments from different depths of the sea in the form of tubular columns and optimizing the process of preparing and sampling long-length samples of a vertical cut of marine sedimentary rocks.
