LOW-ALLOY MEDIUM CARBON STEEL FOR MANUFACTURING OF DRAFT GEARS, COUPLERS AND AUTOMATIC COUPLERS OF RAILWAY ROLLING STOCK Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC C22C38/58 C22C38/46 B61G9/00

Abstract RU 2796884 C1

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates namely to medium-carbon low-alloy steel used for the manufacture of bodies of the draft gear and the coupler or automatic coupler of railway transport. The steel contains components in the following ratio, wt.%: carbon 0.25-0.35, silicon 0.3-0.6, manganese 1.00-1.5, chromium 0.25-0.90, phosphorus not more 0.04, sulphur not more than 0.04, copper not more than 0.3, nickel not more than 0.3, molybdenum not more than 0.12, vanadium not more than 0.12, iron the rest. The steel has an austenite grain of at least 5 points, and after hardening and high tempering, it has a hardness of 255-364 HB and a uniform troostosorbite structure.

EFFECT: steel has a high level of performance, in particular hardness and wear resistance, as well as the required level of mechanical properties after heat treatment, in particular tensile strength, yield strength and impact strength.
