FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control the excitation current of auxiliary or traction vehicle generators. The vehicle generator excitation current regulator is provided with a main excitation current generation channel containing the first rectifier connected to the three phases of the synchronous generator, a filtering vessel, a step-down voltage converter, and a backup excitation current generation channel containing a DC voltage source, a full-wave converter with fully controlled valves and back-to-back diodes, the second rectifier, the first and second current sensors. The main and backup channels for generating the excitation current are connected in series and are controlled by the control system based on feedback signals from the first and second current sensors in the pulse-width modulation mode.
EFFECT: increased reliability of the vehicle generator excitation current regulator by creating a backup excitation channel and ensuring automatic transition to the emergency excitation mode, as well as excluding electromechanical converters from the excitation circuit.
