FIELD: organic chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing acetic acid by methanol carbonylation in the presence of a catalyst using a reactor thermally connected to a distillation column. The method includes introducing methanol and CO into the reactor (1) for the carbonylation reaction, supplying the reaction liquid from the outlet of the reactor (1) to the flash evaporator (2) to obtain liquid-phase and gas-phase components, and recycling the liquid-phase component to the reactor (1). The supply of the gas-phase component to the column (3) of the light component and its separation is carried out to obtain the first head light component and the first bottom heavy component of the column. Feeding the first cubic heavy component into column (4) of the heavy component and separating it, commercial acetic acid is obtained. The method is characterized by the following: the reaction liquid in the reactor (1) is sent through the first circulation pump (5) and divided into two streams, while one of the streams is sent to the reboiler (14) of the bottom product of the column (4) for heat exchange by means of contact, and then is sent back to the reactor (1), the other stream is sent to the external circulation heat exchanger (7) for cooling, and then sent back to the reactor (1), while the reaction liquid has a temperature of 180–220°C, and the bottoms matter of the column from column (4) of the heavy component is of a temperature of 130–165°C.

EFFECT: provision of a method of producing acetic acid by carbonylation of methanol with an increase in the energy efficiency of the process and a decrease in emissions.
