FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the purification of water, industrial and waste water in open artificial and natural reservoirs using aerobic methods of biological oxidation, using mobile (continuously rotating) contact bodies partially submerged in water, the contact surface of which (loading) is made with the possibility of covering it with a biofilm with oxidizing (aerobic heterotrophic) microorganisms and/or microalgae. A device for biological water treatment with rotating biocontactors includes a drive, biocontactors made in the form of drums connected to the drive by appropriate axes, with an external contact surface to hold the biofilm and immerse in the treated water. Drums of biocontactors are made floating in water and symmetrical, installed on two opposite sides of the drive. The drive is installed on a floating platform, equipped with an anchor mechanism for fastening relative to the bottom and is made in the form of an electric motor with a gearbox connected to the corresponding axes of the drums. The loading of each drum is formed by a polymer mesh wound with 10-50 layers with a contact surface area of at least 4 m2/kg and with a gap between the layers of 5-10 mm. To ensure the saturation of the biofilm on loading with oxygen from the air, the drum is made with the possibility of immersion in water by 40-50%, and the motor and gearbox may have a rotation speed of 2-5 min-1.
EFFECT: simplification of the design due to the use of only rotating biocontactors for water purification, expansion of functionality by ensuring the buoyancy of biocontactors and means of bringing them into rotation on the surface of the water, including open water bodies, increasing the purification efficiency by providing the necessary speed of rotation of the biocontactor and the value of its immersion in water, providing the time of contact with air required to saturate the biofilm with atmospheric oxygen.
