FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: waste water is fed into vessel containing suspension of activated sludge, agitated by perforated drums with charge which is activated carbon taken in quantity providing fluidity to charge bed. Drums with perforated surfaces are rigidly fixed on common horizontal shaft at a distance from axis of rotation of shaft. Perpendicularly to side surface of one of the drums, plate-sludge scraper is lengthwise attached, whereas vessel is provided with gas-discharge fitting and check valve. Method and apparatus lead to following advantages: cleaning process may be carried out both in aerobic and anaerobic conditions depending on waste water composition and properties of microorganisms involved; enhanced efficiency of cleaning waste waters due to increased surface of contact with charge and prevented formation of stagnant zones; improved operation conditions upon salvo discharges of polluting substances as compared with cleaning processes without granulated charges.
