FIELD: mechanical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method for production of grinding balls for drum-type mills used in the mining industry and cement production plants. Method for production of grinding balls includes smelting of steel containing, wt.%: C - 0.60-1.20; Si - 0.15-0.40; Mn - 0.60-1.20; Al - not more than 0.010; Cr - 0.10-0.50; V - up to 0.01; Nb - up to 0.01; Mo - up to 0.01; Ti - 0.02-0.04; B - 0.001-0.005, teeming steel into billets, rerolling billets into round bars, heating the bars to a temperature of 1000-1190°C, rolling balls with a temperature of 900-1090°C at the end of rolling, cooling down to a temperature of 750-910°C, hardening of the balls to a temperature of 10000-270°C, tempering at a temperature of 210-300°C.

EFFECT: increased abrasive resistance of grinding balls with a nominal diameter of 60-100 mm.
