SUBSTANCE: invention relates to submersible pneumatic impact mechanisms for drilling wells in rocks of medium and high strength, and can be used in mining and construction. Down-the-hole pneumatic hammer contains a body, a striker, a sleeve, a split sleeve, a supply channel and a drill bit with channels. The striker consists of a head and a shank connected by a neck and having cut-off edges. The sleeve covers the shank and forms an end chamber of the working stroke with its end. The split sleeve covers the neck of the striker with the formation between it and the shank, between it and the head of the striker, respectively, of the annular chambers of idle and working stroke. The working stroke chamber is permanently connected to the end chamber of the working stroke through a channel and a window in the sleeve. The supply channel is constantly in communication with the annular idle chamber. The drill bit with channels is installed in the front part of the body with the formation of a cavity between it and the end face of the striker, which is permanently connected to the atmosphere by channels in the drill bit. In the cavity of the body between the drill bit and the split sleeve, there is a guide exhaust pipe covering the head of the striker. Radial windows are made in the wall of the guide exhaust pipe, constantly open into the cavity between the drill bit and the butt of the striker and having the possibility of periodically opening the cut-off edge of the striker head into the annular chamber of the working stroke. Cavities are formed between the cylindrical surfaces of the split sleeve and sleeve and the end surfaces of the split sleeve and the guide exhaust pipe. A groove is made outside the split sleeve, in which an elastic ring is installed, which is in contact with the inner cylindrical surface of the sleeve.
