FIELD: space technology.
SUBSTANCE: method for controlling the motion of a space object (SO) when approaching another space object (ASO) includes applying velocity pulses to the SO to bring the SO to a point in the vicinity of the ASO with a relative velocity ΔVPR and a decrease in the relative velocity for the transition of the SO to the orbit of the ASO. In this case, the SO is brought to a point located at a distance Δb from the ASO in the direction perpendicular to the plane of its orbit, and the decrease in the relative velocity is carried out by applying to the SO at a given point a velocity impulse equal to the value of the relative velocity ΔV PR and SO directed along the orbital velocity vector.
EFFECT: increased reliability of rendezvous while maintaining the flight safety of SO and ASO.
