METHODS OF SELECTIVE HYDROGENATION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC C07C5/09 C07C11/04 C07C7/167 B01J23/44 B01J31/02

Abstract RU 2804309 C2

FIELD: hydrogenation.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method for operating a selective hydrogenation reactor, wherein the reactor contains one or more catalyst beds, each of which contains an ionic liquid catalyst composition suitable for the selective hydrogenation of acetylene in a process gas containing at least 10 mol.% ethylene, at least 1 ppm. mol of acetylene and at least 5 mol.% hydrogen. The method includes producing one or more catalyst layers at no more than the first temperature, wherein the catalyst layer is in contact with the first gas containing less than 2 mol.% hydrogen, wherein the first gas is non-reactive in the presence of a catalyst at the first temperature; heating one or more catalyst beds in the presence of the first gas to at least the second temperature, wherein the second temperature at least 20°C is higher than the first temperature, wherein the first gas is unreactive in the presence of the catalyst at the second temperature; and thereafter replacing the first gas in contact with the catalyst composition by introducing a process gas stream to be hydrogenated in the selective hydrogenation reactor while the catalyst bed is at at least a second temperature; and allowing the process gas to flow through the catalyst bed until the acetylene concentration leaving the selective hydrogenation reactor is less than 1 ppm. mol. The invention is also related to variants of methods for starting a reactor for selective hydrogenation.

EFFECT: starting a reactor for hydrogenation does not require either pre-loading CO into the reactor or increasing the pressure in it when using an inert gas, and/or which can be carried out over a short period of time.
