FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: downhole equipment for providing zonal isolation. A downhole annular barrier contains a tubular metal part having an outer surface and an inner part. The expandable metal sleeve surrounds the tubular metal part and has an inner surface facing the tubular metal part and an outer surface facing the borehole wall. Each end of the expandable metal sleeve is connected to a tubular metal part. The annular barrier contains a valve module having a start position and an end position. The valve module contains the first slot in fluid communication with the inner part, the second slot in communication with the inner annulus, the third slot in communication with the annulus. The passage of the module contains the first part of the passage, having the first inner diameter, and the second part of the passage, having an inner diameter that is greater than the diameter of the first part. The first slot is located in the second part of the passage. The second and the third slots are located in the first part of the passage and are offset along the length of the passage. The piston is located in the passage of the module and contains the first part located in the first part of the passage in the initial position and having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the first part of the passage. The piston of the module contains the second part located in the second part of the passage in the initial position and having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the second part of the passage. The shear pin prevents the module piston from moving until the preset pressure in the passage is reached. The second slot is in fluid communication with the third slot in the initial position, providing pressure equalization between the inner annulus and the annulus when the annular barrier is lowered into the well.

EFFECT: prevention of crushing of the expandable metal sleeve and premature opening of the barrier.
