FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in mechanized arc welding with a consumable electrode with short circuits in a shielding gas environment. When welding, a programmable welding source is used, which provides separate control of the short circuit (SC) and arc burning (AB) phases. The welding source is switched on in voltage stabilization mode. During the welding process, a drop of molten metal is formed at the end of the consumable electrode, followed by the drop approaching and touching the weld pool until a short circuit occurs between the electrode and the part being welded. Before a drop of molten metal touches the weld pool, at the moment the AB current decreases to a level of 0.5-0.2 of its maximum value, the source is switched to the electric current stabilization mode. After the welding process enters the short-circuit phase, the source is returned to the voltage stabilization mode.
EFFECT: improved quality of welded joints by reducing spattering of the welding electrode metal that occurs during transient current processes from the short-circuit to the arc burning phase.
