SUBSTANCE: invention is related to hydrolysis treatment and pulping of cellulose fibre material. The pulp and liquid suspension are fed into the preliminary hydrolysis reactor in production of soluble pulp. The suspension is pumped through at least one pump into the reactor. Alkali is supplied to at least one pump to control the pH of the suspension in the range of 7-10. The alkali is fed between the pump housing and the pump impeller.
EFFECT: wear rate of the chip pump is reduced.
