FIELD: aluminum recovery.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a process for recovery of aluminum, and in particular to processing of aluminum present in aseptic carton packaging and flexible packaging of materials after mechanical depapering and cleaning processes have been carried out. It is also related to recovery of aluminum from aluminum powder resulting from production of parts using additive technology, such as three-dimensional printing. The method includes dissolution through alkaline decomposition of aluminum-containing raw materials in a Bayer solution to obtain sodium aluminate and hydrogen gas. The resulting sodium aluminate is subjected to the Bayer process to produce alumina and then aluminum itself.
EFFECT: technologically reliable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to recover aluminum from aseptic carton packages and flexible packaging materials after mechanical separation from paper.
