SUBSTANCE: invention is related to mechanisms for heat and/or thermal processing of food products in the open air, in particular over hot coals, namely to a mechanism for adjusting the level of the grate when cooking meat, fish, vegetables, etc. The grate level adjustment mechanism is made of metal and consists of a steering wheel, a shaft, a nut, a rod, a lever, a frame for fastening brackets, a long bracket, a short bracket, a guide for the grate, a slot for the guides, a washer that fixes the shaft, connected to each other. The mechanism is configured to change the distance between the grate and the grill grate for the food products being prepared from a larger interval to a smaller one and vice versa. The mechanism is made with the possibility of smooth lifting or lowering, fixation in the intermediate required position due to the interaction of short and long brackets through a lever with a rod attached to a nut located on a shaft made with the possibility of manual rotation using a steering wheel.

EFFECT: fast and efficient raising/lowering of the grate to regulate the rate of frying of food products, placing a large mass of fuel on the grate, the ability to select the optimal level of the grate with burning fuel in the entire range: from the lowest to the highest position.
