FIELD: medicine; otorhinolaryngology.
SUBSTANCE: local therapy of the tonsil is carried out for 3 minutes with a hypertonic solution of 2–4% sodium chloride. The patient is transferred to a supine position on the couch with the headrest raised and at the same time the foot end of the couch raised above the horizontal plane at an angle less than the angle of elevation of the headrest above the working plane of the couch. The patient’s head is turned 45°. Alternate irrigation of the right and left tonsils is carried out for 3 minutes while turning the patient’s head to the right and left, respectively, once daily for 7–10 days. For irrigation, a hypertonic solution of 2–4% sodium chloride at a temperature of +41–+42°C is used.
EFFECT: reduction of the symptoms of inflammation of the tonsils, increase of the transverse size of the pharyngeal cavity in the area of the inflamed tonsil, facilitation of the process of swallowing bolus food and reduction of sore throat.
