FIELD: detergents.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method for producing a particle-based laundry detergent composition. The method includes the following steps: (a) bringing water, starch, acid and flavouring into contact to form a concentrated water-acid mixture, wherein the concentrated acid mixture contains: from 20 to 60 wt.% starch; from 10 to 50 wt.% acid; from 2 to 20 wt.% flavouring; from 10 to less than 45 wt.% water; and wherein the concentrated acid mixture has a pH of less than 4.5; (b) subjecting the concentrated acid mixture to a flavour emulsification step to emulsify the flavour to form an emulsified flavour mixture in fluid form; (c) spraying the emulsified fragrance mixture in fluid form onto the detergent base particles such that the emulsified fragrance mixture at least partially covers the detergent base particles to form a powdered laundry detergent composition wherein the detergent base particles range from 4 to 60 wt.% of the detergent surfactant.
EFFECT: invention provides a particle-based laundry detergent composition that does not discolour after storage.
