SUBSTANCE: production of a preparation for fat-liquoring leather. The method of obtaining a preparation for a leather fat-liquoring composition involves esterification of distilled fatty acids with alcohol in the presence of a catalyst - concentrated sulphuric acid or alkali, followed by neutralization, washing and dehydration of the resulting product. Distilled fatty acids from cotton soap stock are used as distilled fatty acids; glycerine is used as alcohol at a molar ratio of 1:3. The amount of the catalyst is 0.3-0.7% by weight of the reaction mixture, and the reaction duration is 1.0-2.0 hours.

EFFECT: high yield of the final product with high quality indicators, such as high density, high boiling point, melting point, dropping point, and low saponification number, which prevents migration of ester from treated leather.
