FIELD: hydraulic binders.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of hydraulic binders from water treatment residues or other aluminium-rich residual wastes and, in particular, to a method for the production of hydraulic binders containing calcium aluminate and/or calcium sulphoaluminate. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for the production of high-alumina hydraulic binders, in particular calcium aluminate and/or calcium sulphoaluminate cements, at relatively low temperatures and using water treatment residues as a starting material, thereby providing a more environmentally friendly and cheaper alternative to traditional methods for the production of high-alumina cements. A method for producing a high alumina hydraulic binder includes the steps of mixing an aluminium ion source with a calcium ion source in the presence of water to form mineral hydrates and then heating said mineral hydrates to form said high alumina hydraulic binder, wherein in said heating step said hydrated minerals are heated to at least 350°C, preferably up to 800°С.
