FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: autonomous tractor (1) for autonomously crossing agricultural land contains one or more sensors for detecting obstacles when crossing agricultural land, a coupling (3) for coupling an agricultural machine (2) selected from a group of agricultural machines, each of which is configured to couple with tractor (1). To connect the tractor (1) to a truck for road freight transport to transport the tractor (1) along the road, the tractor (1) is equipped on one side with a connecting device (4) and on the opposite side with a set of wheels (5), with the help of which the direction of movement (X) of the tractor (1) for crossing agricultural land is made perpendicular to the direction of travel when the tractor (1) is transported on the road. The method for cultivating agricultural land includes stages in which an agricultural machine (2) is connected to an autonomous tractor (1), a tractor (1) with an agricultural machine (2) attached to it is connected to a truck for road transport for transporting the tractor (1) along the road to a plot of agricultural land, the tractor (1) is uncoupled from the truck for road freight transportation and the tractor (1) is enabled to autonomously cross the agricultural land, while the agricultural machine (2) cultivates the land.
EFFECT: practical use of an autonomous tractor is facilitated.
