SUBSTANCE: fire extinguishing unit and a fire extinguishing method carried out using at least one such unit. In this case, the fire extinguishing unit contains a metal frame and fire extinguishing modules, to which pipelines with sprayers are connected, and each module is fixed to the metal frame by means of detachable clamps, the metal frame consists of four connected blocks, each of which has three edges and a U-shaped cross-sectional shape, the blocks contain rigidity elements, while three blocks contain shelves made of metal plates, each of which has one fire extinguishing module installed, and on the pipelines of the upper and middle modules there are three nozzle sprayers with a root spray angle of 19 degrees, and on the pipeline of the lower module there are two cone nozzles with a root spray angle of 95 degrees and one nozzle atomizer with a root spray angle of 19 degrees. The fire extinguishing method involves the formation and supply of fire extinguishing agent flows to the fire source from fire extinguishing units installed in the protected volume.

EFFECT: expansion of the scope of fire extinguishing units and creation of a new compact and effective fire extinguishing unit, adapted for placement in limited spaces, as well as a fire extinguishing method using it.
