METHOD OF CLOSING END DEFECTS OF NAIL PHALANGES OF II-V FINGERS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2810963 C1

FIELD: medicine; traumatology; orthopedics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to replace defects in the nail phalanges of the II–V fingers. A U-shaped incision is formed on the dorsal surface of the adjacent finger at the level of the middle phalanx with the possibility of closing the defect and creating excess soft tissue when the flap is rotated towards the recipient finger. With a second incision, the recipient field is prepared, the edges of the fasciocutaneous defect are refreshed and, if necessary, not more than 2 mm of non-viable tissue of the nail phalanx is resected, without resecting the nail phalanx itself. Then the fasciocutaneous flap is moved into the recipient bed and fixed with separate skin sutures to the edges of the fascial skin flap, then the displaced tissue complex is fixed to the nail phalanx with separate sutures, simultaneously giving the graft an oval shape. Then a plaster fixing bandage is applied to 2 fingers. Skin sutures are removed after 14 days. The surviving displaced fasciocutaneous flap is cut off after 4 weeks, after removing the plaster immobilization. The method provides improved treatment results for the injured.

EFFECT: consequences of taking a graft for cross skin grafting become practically unnoticeable 2–3 months after the operation due to the fact that the achieved shape of the fingertip is more consistent with the shape of the intact long fingers of the hand, and the growing nail plate is a support for the graft.
