COMPOSITIONS, PRODUCTS AND METHODS OF OBTAINING BIOMASS CONTAINING ACTIVATED PECTIN Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C08B37/06

Abstract RU 2812486 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: embodiments of the method of producing a composition containing activated biomass pectin are proposed. In one embodiment, the method includes mixing a pectin-containing biomass starting material, including an insoluble fibre component and an insoluble protopectin component, with an aqueous alcohol solution to form a mixture. Afterwards, the starting material of pectin-containing biomass is activated to form a composition containing activated biomass pectin, including an insoluble fibrous component and a soluble pectin component. Activation involves treatment with an activating solution obtained by adding hydrochloric acid to the mixture until the pH of the mixture is between 0.5 and 2.5, and heating to a temperature greater than 40°C. Mechanical energy is then applied to the mixture before or during activation, or to the mixture before and during activation. Then the composition containing activated biomass pectin is separated from the mixture. Moreover, during implementation of the method, the alcohol present in the mixture is 35% or more by weight based on the total weight of the mixture. An acid solution containing from 3 to 37% by weight of hydrochloric acid is added to the mixture at the activation stage. Variants of a composition containing activated biomass pectin, a food product, a food additive, a disposable diaper, a female hygiene product containing it, and the use of an acid to reduce the calcium content in the starting material of the biomass pectin are also proposed.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining dietary fibre from pectin-containing plants, which can be easily processed while preserving both soluble and insoluble fibre components with high-quality properties in terms of rapid viscosity and water-holding capacity.
