FIELD: fire protection.
SUBSTANCE: method for suppressing and reducing the intensity of a fire in an isolated system of compartments by sealing the emergency compartment from the adjacent compartments. The method is characterized by measuring and controlling the pressure of the gas-air environment (GAE) in each of the compartments using appropriate sensors and instruments for measuring and monitoring pressure; after a fire occurs and is detected in the emergency compartment, it is partially and dosedly sealed from the adjacent compartments; after GAE pressure in the emergency compartment is reduced to the pressure level in the adjacent compartments, the emergency compartment is completely sealed; in this case, partial and complete sealing is carried out by means of bypass valves located in the lower parts of the bulkheads between the compartments and configured to open and close them; the maximum flow area of each bypass valve Smax between the adjacent compartments is determined by the formula
where K=2.98⋅ 10 -4 - parameter, 1/m; Smax - maximum flow area of the bypass valve between the adjacent compartments, m2; Vi, V +1 - volumes of the adjacent (i-th and i+1-th) compartments, m3; i - compartment number (i=1, 2, 3…n-1); n is the total number of the adjacent compartments. The invention can be used to reduce the intensity and suppress a fire in a sealed room (compartment), for example, in a compartment of a submarine or spacecraft.
EFFECT: invention will help improve the efficiency of organizing and carrying out measures to combat ignition or fires at facilities that have an isolated system of sealed rooms or compartments.
