FIRE-PROTECTION METHOD FOR SMALL MANNED SUBMERSIBLE AND OTHER DEVICES FOR OCEANEERING AND ALSO SELF-CONTAINED SPACE OBJECTS Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A62C2/00 A62C3/00

Abstract RU 2636558 C1

FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: fire-protection method for tightly sealed manned objects, mainly submarines, which are in the autonomous mode, includes the formation inside of each closed compartment of a sealed object of a hypoxic gas-air environment with a low oxygen content at a normal pressure of the gas-air environment. The oxygen content is set depending on the type of the tightly sealed compartment due to the time spent and the work intensity of crew members in it. An increased concentration of argon is created in the hypoxic gas-air environment, and the oxygen content in the compartments where the crew is absent or appear occasionally for a short time is created at a set level of 8 vol. %. In other compartments, where the personnel spend most of their time - at the level of 10-13 vol. %, in this case the concentration of argon is adjusted to the level of range of 1 vol. % in the atmosphere to the level of 25-35 vol. % in the hypoxic gas-air environment in all compartments. The argon content is maintained at a set level during the entire sealing time, if necessary adding it from high-pressure cylinders or another device. The oxygen content is maintained at a set level during the entire sealing period by the system of regeneration of a tightly sealed manned object or from another source.

EFFECT: reduction of the probability of ignition and fire due to a decrease of the oxygen content and preservation of the conditions for the normal life of the crew of a tightly sealed manned object under conditions of a longstanding tightness.
